Jaundice (पीलिया)
Jaundice is a condition in which the skin, the whites of the eyes (sclera), and Mucous Membranes turn yellow. This yellowing is due to an excess of bilirubin, a yellowish pigment that is produced during the normal breakdown of red blood cells. When the liver is not functioning properly, it accumulates in the body, leading to jaundice.
Types (प्रकार):
- Pre-hepatic (Hemolytic) Jaundice [प्री-हेपेटिक (हेमोलिटिक) पीलिया]
- Hepatic (Hepatocellular) Jaundice [यकृती (हेपेटोसेलुलर) पीलिया]
- Post-hepatic (Obstructive) Jaundice [पोस्ट-हेपेटिक (अवरोधक) पीलिया]
- Newborn Jaundice [नवजात शिशु का पीलिया]

- Hepatitis (हेपेटाइटिस)

- Gallstones (पित्ताशय की पथरी)
- Tumours (ट्यूमर)
- Pancreatitis (अग्नाशयशोथ)
- Prematurity (कुसमयता)
- Blood Incompatibility (रक्त असंगति)
- Sepsis (पूति)
- Hypothyroidism (हाइपोथायरायडिज्म)

Symptoms (लक्षण):
- Yellowing of the Skin & Eyes (त्वचा और आँखों का पीला पड़ना)
- Pale or Clay-coloured Stools (पीला या मिट्टी के रंग का मल)
- Swelling of the Abdomen (पेट में सूजन)
- Abdominal Pain (पेट में दर्द)
- Fever & Chills (बुखार एवं ठंड लगना)
- Itchy Skin (खुजली वाली त्वचा)
